Jan – Feb. 2016 – GCN provided food, water and blankets to 2,000 beneficiaries in Namsang village in Taungyi Township, Shan State South, Myanmar.
2012-2016 – GCN completed 20 tube wells and Ceramic Water Filters Maungdaw Township and Buthidaung Township in Rakhine state providing clean water to 8,000 beneficiaries.
In Jan 2015 and Oct 2016, GCN members provided food, water and shelter to 500 victims of ethnic conflicts in northern and souther Shan State. These 500 victims now work together with GCN as volunteers as fighting continues across Myanmar’s embattled northeast.
In October 2012 – 2013, GCN was able to provide clean water to both Buddhist and Muslim victims of religious/ethnic conflict in Meiktilla Township in north central Myanmar. Members of GCN provided food, and bottled water to Muslim refugee camps near Meiktilla that were living on the compound of an Islamic organization. During this time GCN members were also able to provide clean water and construct 2 tube wells for impoverish family members of the Burmese military.
In 2009, our Irrawaddy Regional Coordinator helped oversee the construction of 40 homes for persecuted religious communities in 9 villages in Bogale Township. 400 beneficiaries constructed a new village at the confluence of Bogale River and another tributary. People from 12 surrounding villages now enjoy clean water from our new village’s reservoir as most of the Irrawaddy delta region suffers from salt water intrusion.
